Ever wondered how many Internet addresses there are out there in cyberspace well i have many a time, i cant give you a precise figure. What i can tell you is that ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) has recovered 16 million ipv4 addresses. These were originally used to allow data transfer in the fledgling Internet (technically known as Net-14).
More than 16 million new addresses each month were allocated by IANA last year and the trend is expected to continue.
The move to Ipv6 will create 340 trillion trillion trillion unique IP addresses available (which isn’t really a number i can quantify) but rest assured is a lot.
