Sick of spam ?, hate phishing ? (i have been twice and didn’t catch anything . sorry), hate scams ? well the answer may be here…
Email fraud is big business and some people must fall for the scams else they would send them right ?. Heard of DKIM ?, well before today neither did i but i had been using it without my knowledge.
DKIM stands for DomainKeys Identified Mail and allows an organisation to cryptographically tag (or sign) outgoing email to verify for the recipient that they sent the message.
Sounds complicated but is quite simple in practice just having a system of digital signature on an email makes sense to me. I have been using yahoo mail for a while now and i have noticed the domain key system on emails from ebay and paypal but thought nothing of it. One thing i have noticed is a number of emails claiming to be from banks and building societies i havent heard of asking me for login details. Now i personally like to think i am quite internet savvy so will never fall for these scams but some people must to a less experienced user i think a digital signature or verification of an emails sender will reassure people about the validity of an email. One thing i must say now is that your bank will never email you and ask for login details.
All this can only be a good thing
